Dear parents,

Spring brings to us the Eighteenth Annual Diocesan Art Exhibit that will be held at Nativity of Mary School, on 8550 Main Street, in Clarence, from May 4th through the 8th , from 2:45-5:30.The opening reception will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 1:00-4:00.The following students will be showcased at this exhibit:

·Margaret Weimer – kindergarten

·Dominic Drexinger – grade one

·Elizabeth Seward – grade two

·Mark Venditti – grade three

·Jessica Mancino – grade four

·Gregg Mojica – grade four

·Marisa Pierino – grade five

·Kelsey Sommer – grade six

·Julie Dudek – grade seven

·Briana Fuentes – grade eight

The artists in our school have been very busy the last few weeks.Recently, Ss. Peter & Paul Parish sponsored an Earth Day Poster & Essay Contest. The following students from our school will be honored at a ceremony and reception on Sunday, May 4, after the 11:30 Mass, in the Neumann Room. These winning artists and writers are:

  • Anna Attea – grade seven – essay
  • Joseph Pluchino – grade seven- three dimensional art
  • Gregg Mojica – grade four – poster
  • Grace Galvin – grade four – poster
  • Kaitlyn Grady – grade five – poster
  • Nicholas Powell – grade five – poster
  • Brynn Cowe – grade three – poster
  • Alexis Bartlo – grade three – poster
  • Charles Weimer – grade three – poster

Looks like the Weimer's and the Mojica's will be very busy on May 4th!

Several of the teachers have expressed concern over the traffic in our school's parking lot. When you are driving in this lot, please drive slowly and cautiously, particularly if it is dismissal time. The Glen Avenue exit is an exit only and should not be used as an entrance into the school's parking lot.

Progress reports will go out next Friday in grades three through eight. We still have several report cards in the office. Please pick them up as soon as possible.

There is no end to the talent at SSPP.Fifth grader, Kaitlyn Grady, participated in a feis, an Irish dance competition.Kaitlyn placed 1st in her three-hand team dance and fourth in two solo dances, quite an accomplishment for such a young dancer!

At this point we have not received re-registration forms for eight students. We will assume that these students are not planning to return, unless we hear from you. This will mean that we will not order books, materials and confirm bussing for next year. Please notify us immediately so that we may confirm or negate this assumption.

Our Keys and Sword Gala will take place on Friday, May 16, at the Millennium Hotel.I cannot emphasize enough how much fun this event is.For the price of a ticket, you will enjoy a lovely dinner that you won't have to prepare; the company of some really cool people; many opportunities to win fantastic prizes and money, and an opportunity to relax.Every ticket sold allows the purchaser to enjoy one dinner. Please remember that every family must either sell or buy five tickets at $30 per ticket. Those who do not do so will have the dollar amount added to their tuition bill at the end of the year. Also, please remember that each ticket you sell over the five that are required will earn you an entry into a drawing for one year's free tuition at Ss. Peter & Paul School. This is one of the biggest prizes in the sweepstakes - $2050 value! The odds are also fantastic, since only school families will participate in this particular opportunity to win.The drawing will take place at the Spring Concert and Play on May 15, in the gym.You need not be present to win.

Speaking of the Concert and Play, we will be presenting our version of The Wizard of Oz on May 15.It's really very cute, and Mrs. Grenauer, and Erdman have worked very hard to make this evening a memorable one.The production will involve grades three, four and five, some of the sixth, seventh and eighth graders, and the school band. Please plan on attending. There is also a dress rehearsal on May 15th that you are welcome to attend.

Enjoy the weekend with your beautiful family!

Sincerely,

Marianne Maines

"We keep talking about the gap.We create the gap when we try to move kids too fast, and we don't start where kids are in their educational scheme of things. So I would start with where my children were, and I would build up.As I said, the house doesn't start on the sixth floor; it starts on the bottom. You've got to build up."
